Sydney is the most famous city in Australia which is situated on Australia’s south-east coast, on the botany bay, around the harbour of Port Jackson. It’s also the state capital of New

 South Wales, and it was the site of the first British colony in Australia. It was established in 1788. Australia was discovered by Captain Cook, an English explorer.

On the Botany Bay National Park we can see a monument which marks Cook’s landing place. There’s the Discovery centre in the park to know more of the Australia’ history and Cook’s life. The other side of the bay, at the North there’s La Perouse monument built in 1828, to commemorate when arrived in 1788 the French explorer la Perouse at the island. There’s also a museum with memories of his expeditions.

Sydney is very well known for his beaches, especially Bondi Beach where we can find one of the highest waves of the world. It’s the surfers’ paradise. The Rocks is an inner-city suburb, tourist precinct and historic area of Sydney. But the most popular site is the Sydney Opera House, which it was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 2007. It is one of the world’s most distinctive 20th century buildings, and one of the most famous performing arts centres in the world.

There is also Darling Harbour, Fort Denison ,Islands on Port Jackson, Kings Cross, Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and many others.

The population of the city is above 4,336,374 habitants for an area of 12144,6 km². Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, which reflects its role as a major destination for immigrants to Australia. Sydney is Australia’s most expensive city, and the 15th most expensive in the world.

VENICE defies description.Many have tried, but it has to be seen, felt and wandered through to be believed, and even then you may have trouble thinking it real.Venice is a glorious cliché, more romantic, more beautiful and more surprising than you could expect. No matter how many photographs or films you may have seen. Don’t just stick to the tried, true and obvious. Sure, the Basilica di San Marco, Palazzo Ducale, Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Gallerie dell’Accademia are all important. But ‘lesser’ sights like Ca’ Rezzonico, Ca’ Pesaro, the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, the Rialto bridge and Arsenale all give special insight into the city. You must visit the monuments, but you can also tour around the retailers and the side streets  in the core .

 Presentation: Venice is a city in northern Italy, the capital of the region Veneto, with a population of 271,000 habitants. It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. The saltwater lagoon stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave (north) Rivers. The city’s patron is St. Mark the Evangelist and the city’s day is April 25 .

History: This city has 1400 years of extraordinary history. The Venetian Republic was a major maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and a staging area for the Crusades and the Battle of Lepanto, as well as a very important center of commerce (especially silk, grain and spice trade) and art in the 13th century up to the end of the 17th century.

When to go: Venice’s quietest season is winter. You’re unlikely to find Venice empty of tourists at any time, but late autumn and the first part of the winter are the best times to come if you want to avoid the crowds. Be prepared for icy temperatures and mists. As the spring turns into summer, tourist numbers rise; and Venice in the height of summer is avoided by many; August can be swelteringly hot.

Big Events: In January and February the two-week-long Carnival is one of Venice’s big attractions and the crowds flock in . There are masks and parties; it’s a bit tamer now, though, than the decadent excesses of the past. There is also the Venice Film Festival takes place in late August and early September.

At the same time, many students don’t have a good economical situation that allows them to afford cultural visits to museums, theatres and cinemas, participate to educational trips and even in some cases, eat healthy food at school.

For these reasons, I believe that allowing enterprises to do advertisements at school, they could finance several of the school’s requirements mentioned above, as well as some of the students’ cultural activities.
